Faith
One of the questions that have been a rabble-rouser for my brain is that whom are we praying to? Well, I am pretty much aware of the fact that people who are way more learned and experienced than me have tried to answer this question and might have provided a better answer than mine but I would really appreciate it if my readers consider this post of mine as an opinion or a perspective of mine. So, let us begin...
Before asking that whom are we praying to? Let's ask a few questions to ourselves,What are we praying?
Why are we praying?
Coming to the first question...According to my past experiences and dealings with the almighty, most of the time it has been more like begging and asking for stuff and my demands are also pretty much diverse and not worth disclosing right now ( I and God have a pact). Now, let's take a moment and think about are we all simply only asking for stuff and not giving anything in return? Well if you ask this question to a priest he will provide you with various demands of the almighty if you wish to get your demands fulfilled. Technically he is not wrong too. You want something, you need to give something, or to be more precise let me put it in a manner, that you are compelled to give something. So is this "give and take" thing a deal or not? The answer is you never know, you simply take a leap of faith there that something...something...you asked for it or not...was it there on your wish list or not...was it the desirable stuff or not....but you will accept it on the foundation of the fact that you had given something and you got something irrespective of the fact whether you are happy or not. But one thing is for sure that even after such flummoxing uncertainties you would not feel disappointed why should you? You always have a second shot at putting your demands again and negotiating with the god, anyways he ain't running anywhere soon.
Answer two....this one is a very subjective question the answer can vary from person to person..time to time..or even for a single human, neuron to neuron. So let's consider my frame of reference here. I don't pray much (except when I am begging for things) but it's more like a talk. I have tried to channelize my faith in a meandering path of talks and a dialogue where I get some space to think about stuff a bit more openly rather than restricting my views in a particular thought process. My meetings with the almighty involve much of self-criticism and a better self-view. He is more of a mirror to me whose reflection is adjusted in such a manner that I see myself a bit more productive and a person to work on a lot. That's my view. If I try to generalize the answer for everyone, it would be more like a cliche answer that has been out there since the beginning of the Anthropocene, google it up you will find it.
The last question is my favorite and a real rabble-rouser ....and so the answer is gonna be pretty much not the one you might be expecting. At first, faith ain't something you put, it's more like a sweater which you have to knit or is already knitted for you and you didn't even have a choice of whether wearing it or not, it's mandatory... whether its winter, spring, monsoon or even summers you gotta wear it ...only if you desire to be a part of the society. And even that is not in your hand...a long time before your existence came into the thought of the minds of people trying to conceive you...that sweater had been knitted already. Take a pause and please notice that by sweater I do not mean religion. Religion is a thought process but here we are trying to figure the answer to what led to the invention of this thought process and channelized methods of having your dealings with the almighty and what are my views on it (told you stuff here is highly perspective). Coming back to the topic, faith is like the superhero who people think will always be there to save the day...its superpowers include hope, love, ambition, desire, and most importantly you yourself. The point that I am trying to make here is that you don't put or knit your faith in God but faith itself is god.
When you pray or perform rituals you are basically satisfying your very own self-belief and trying to find content or more like insurance for your actions and there is nothing wrong about it. And who the hell am I to tell you what is wrong or right you yourself are a better decision-maker. In my terms what we as species need to understand is a very simple term that might help us to get a better connection with the almighty that is lets put faith in ourselves, in our actions, in our fellow mates and always have a feeling of gratitude towards each other and the almighty. One more question that might have popped in the minds of the rabble makers in our minds is that what about the people who actually don't have anything or are not happy in their current circumstances. My advice to them is pretty straightforward..... that their mere existence was actually a case of probability. Let me go a bit deep here by simply saying that any human that exists right now or existed earlier or will exist had a one in a million chance of their creation and one in a billion chance of their sustainability in this wonderful world. So be grateful for your mere existence and the opportunity that you have in your hands known as life.
Still, whom are we praying to? The answer is an image of ideas that has been weaved in our heart and soul over all these years and asked to look forward to during our times of agony and when the ball ain't in our court. But let's change it a bit that rather than just anticipating the image lets even try having a bit of faith in ourselves first, then a bit of faith in our actions, a bit more in our loved ones, a bit more in our ideas, a bit more in people, a bit more in the breath we breathe every second of the day and the blood that is pumped by our heart, the ideas that pop out of our brain and a bit faith in life too.
The questions of the existence of God and the credibility of all the rituals and stuff don't have any definite answer nor does the questions answered in the article has but one thing in this ever-changing world that needs to be constant is having faith in each other and the feeling of gratitude towards the almighty and our fellow mates.
Faith is to believe what you do not see; The reward of this faith is to see what you believe.
